Alvin Patrick Warren, 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Care Partners Solace Hospice Center in Asheville, NC.

Mr. Warren was born June 14, 1922 in Asheville, NC. He was the son of the late Alfonso Patrick and Blanche Womack Warren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Jo Orr Warren and a sister Pauline Warren Love.

He was a devoted family man and was loved and cherished by many. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served in WWII.

He retired from Biltmore Dairy Farms after 45 years of loyal service to the company.

He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and a member of Long's Chapel United Methodist Church for the past 56 years where he served as usher for 45 years. He was the oldest living member of Long's Chapel UMC at the time of his death. He was a servant of God, loved his church and loved greeting people every Sunday.

He was an active member of the Kiwanas Club of Waynesville for 40+ years, where he served as past president, was given the top award of being named Lt Governor for District 1A, was active with Key Clubs and Circle K and was the first club member to be honored with a lifetime membership.

Alvin is survived by two daughters, Patricia Warren Rogers and husband Richard, of Lake Junaluska and Ann Woods King of Fairview; five grandchildren, Rick Rogers and wife, Michele, Larry Woods and wife, Kim, David Woods and wife, Holly, Michael Woods and wife, Amy and Barbara Bumgarner and husband, Andrew; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Warren Fox of Asheville; one sister in law, Clara Orr Sorrells of Asheville and two brothers-in-law, Franklin D. Orr and wife, Shirley of Asheville and Earl A. Orr and wife, Gladys of Hampstead, NC.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Long's Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Chris Westmoreland and Reverend John K. Ferree officiating. A private family committal service will be held following the service. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. at the church.
