Our father, Fred B. Kerr, formerly of Farmington, New Mexico, passed away on June 11, 2018.
Dad was born in Grandfield, Oklahoma on September 15, 1923 and was one of eight children born to sharecropper parents. Dad served his country in both World War II and the Korean Conflict, was stationed in Rome, Italy, the Balkans, North Appennines, the Aleution Islands, Rhineland and Normandy, France.
He was qualified as a Marksman and specialized in radio communications. His service earned three bronze medals, two silver stars, a distinguished unit badge and a bronze oak leaf cluster. He was a proud graduate of Oklahoma State University. Dad was a pilot and owned his own plane for most of his life. A surveyor by trade, Dad started his own business and worked countless hours in the Four Corners oil field. He was a trooper. He went snow skiing with us, horseback riding with us, golfing with us, getting his first hole-in-one at age 91 and was always there to support us.
Our mother, teacher Betty Kerr, predeceased Dad at 1990. Dad remarried Evelyn Northcutt, who died in 2015.
Dad is survivied by his three children Larry (Linda) of Kirtland, Liane of Albuquerque and Candy Pulte (Matt) of Farmington. Dad has three grandchildren, Amanda, Jimmy and Kristin and four great-grandchildren.
He will be laid to rest next to Mom in Farmington.
