Bazil Washington Gaut, 93, passed away April 22, 2007 at his home in Vinita.

Bazil was born February 28, 1914 at Sprague, Washington to William B. Gaut and Ione Belle (Ferguson) Gaut. He attended several schools due to the ill health of his mother. He graduated from Wann, Oklahoma High School. Bazil married Lorene Beisly on October 14, 1945 at Nowata, Oklahoma and the couple was happily married for 55 years until her death Christmas Eve 2001. He worked many jobs from threshing in the early days to sales later in life. Prior to owning a service station in Nowata, Bazil worked for Simpson Hardware. In 1962, he moved his family to Hillsboro, Oregon where he lived until his retirement. Bazil returned to Oklahoma and settled in Vinita. He was a faithful member of the First Church of God in Vinita. Bazil loved the Lord and was always a witness to family and friends.

He is survived by a son, Phillip Gaut and his wife, Louetta of Vinita; one daughter, Janet Harris and her husband, Richard of Nowata; grandchildren, Mia Sellers and husband, Brian; Darren Gaut, Brady Douglas and wife, Erika; Amanda Boyd and husband, Nick; Stacy McGuirk, and Vera Price and husband, Bill; two brothers, Kenneth Gaut and his wife, Nita of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Robert Gaut and his wife, Jean of Marshfield, Missouri; one sister, Kathryn Hollyfield and her husband, David of Caney, Kansas and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and three brothers, Byrne, Bill and Ben.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Eddie Wrinkle officiating. Interment will be in Vinita's Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday.
