Bro. Kelly accepted Christ during his attendance at East Springfield B.C., then later moved his membership to Victory Temple C.O.G..I.C. in Kilgore, TX where the pastor is Elder Robert Hicks. He continued to serve there faithfully as a deacon until he was no longer able to attend. Bro. Kelly also served many other churches in the community, helping out in any way he could.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Bertha Jean Kelly and Ivory Louise Allen, brothers Dennis Kelly, Roscoe Moody and grandmother Bessie Wade.
He is survived by his wife: Essie Kelly; 2 children: Erika Beck (Brannon Beck) and Johnny Jackson, both of Longview, TX; 4 brothers: James Kelly Jr. of Longview, TX, Kenneth Wayne Kelly of Houston, TX, Maurice Moody and Vincent Moody of Longview, TX; 2 sisters: Carolyn Thompson of Nacogdoches, TX and Lisa Moody of Longview, TX; 4 grandchildren; 2 greatgrandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
