Graduated in 1943, at age 21, from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, with a degree in architecture ... Awarded the American Institute of Architects (AIA) student medal ... Later the same year, enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving from 1943 until the end of World War II, with overseas duty during the occupation of Japan, and subsequently served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, achieving the rank of Major ... Married at age 28, on 12 Nov 1949, at Northwood Appold Methodist Church, in Baltimore, MD, to Catherine Marguerite Moore, also a Cornell alumnus (and known by her middle name) ... One known child, a daughter ... Initially settled in Spokane, but returned to Baltimore by 1952, at age 31, where he worked for the architectural firm of Edmunds & Hyde, Inc. ... Named the firm’s president and director of design nearly three decades later, at age 60, in May 1982 ...
