Rodolfo Gil Reyes, 78, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 11, 2018, at Solara Hospital in Harlingen, Texas surrounded by his loving family.

Rudy, as he was affectionately known to all, was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. Rudy was a proud Army veteran and was an active member of the American Legion.
Rudy touched the lives of countless college students at Texas Southmost College as a Building Trades Instructor. Rudy was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends, but by all those fortunate enough to have known him.

Rudy was preceded in death by his son, Rodolfo Gil Reyes Jr.; his parents, Maria and Arnulfo Reyes; and a brother, Francisco Reyes.

Rudy is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lydia Cortez Reyes; his son, Roy Gil (Carmen) Reyes and a daughter, Norma Lydia (Jesus "Jesse") Marroquin; 3 grandchildren: Reba Lynn and Cory Lynn Reyes and Jesse Marroquin IV. Rudy will also be missed by 3 sisters and 7 brothers along with numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. and continue through 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2018, in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The recitation of the Holy Rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Darling-Mouser. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018, at Our Lord of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 650 E. Alton Gloor Blvd., Brownsville. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
The American Legion John Hanson Post #43 will be rendering military honors at the graveside for their comrade.
