Debra Leigh Vaughn, 59, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. She was born October 29, 1958, in Jefferson City, Missouri, a daughter of the late Donald L. Anthony, Sr. & Donna J. “D.J.” (Avery) Douglas. She was a 1975 graduate of Lincoln Lab High School and went on to attend Lincoln University, where she was named “Homecoming Queen” at Lincoln University. Debra was married to Thomas Vaughn, who survives in Jefferson City.

Debra worked in nursing as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant, and also worked in housekeeping and a cook. Debra grew up in the Church of God in Christ, and later attended church at Joshua House. She enjoyed playing Bingo, going to the casino, playing with her dog Bennie, listening to music, and writing poetry.

Debra is also survived by four children: Curtis Brown (wife Roni), Keith Haley, Cynthia Lawshea and Tonita Brown all of Jefferson City; two brothers: Ken Brown and Donald Anthony, Jr.; one sister: Tonya Smith; a brother-in-law: Shalamar Smith; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two uncles: William Bentley of Columbia and Flynn Avery of Kansas City. Debra was preceded in death by her mother: Donna “D.J.” Douglas; her father: Donald Anthony, Sr.; a son: Anthony “Baby Jr.” Haley; and a sister: Delisa Templeton.

Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Interment will be private for the family. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Family of Debra L. Vaughn.
