Mildred Hagemeier Kennedy, 102, passed away on June 6, 2018. A private burial will be at Bryan City Cemetery.

Mildred was born in Navasota, Texas, to the late Conrad Leonard Hagemeier and Ida Fuqua Hagemeier. She was a member of First United Methodist Church for 91 years, active until the last few years of her life. She joined the church at the age of 12, when she, her dad and two brothers moved to Bryan from Navasota where she was born.

She served her church in many capacities and will be remembered as a wonderful Sunday School teacher, teaching in the children’s, youth and adult divisions until the age of 95. She was a faithful member of the Neighborly Sunday School Class, serving as one of the early presidents.

She was a charter member of St. Joseph Hospital’s Pink Ladies, a dedicated worker at Fannin School through VIPS and Help One Student To Succeed. She received the Volunteer of the Year award by Volunteers in Public Schools.

She greatly enjoyed travel in the U.S. with her family and following her retirement from Ag. Communications, Texas A&M Extension Service, visited most of the United States, including Hawaii, Alaska, Israel, Greece, and Great Britain.

She was a talented seamstress, creating many styles of clothing and costumes.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sam P. Kennedy, a grandson, Keith David Engelbrecht; and nine siblings.

Survivors include her daughter, Camille Engelbrecht and her husband, Travis, of Bryan; grandson, Mark Engelbrecht and his wife, Daniela; great-grandchildren: Connor Lloyd Engelbrecht, Kennedy Engelbrecht, Cole Engelbrecht, and Asher Bailly Engelbrecht, all of Plano; other relatives and many friends.
