US Congressman. In 1884, he graduated from Iowa State University, moved to Fairmont Nebraska and became the city schools superintendent. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1887 and started practice in Geneva, Nebraska. He became the director of the Geneva State Bank and was the prosecuting attorney of Fillmore County from 1890 to 1894. From 1894 to 1896, he was a member of the state senate and was the chairman of the Republican State convention in 1903. In 1911, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-second Congress and the three succeeding congresses serving until 1919. In 1929, he ran again for the Seventy-first Congress and won, serving until 1931. Afrer his term, he resumed the practice of law and was in banking until his death.
