Mrs. Susie A. Groves, 92, of Iberia, died Sunday, March 31, 1974, at the Miller County Nursing Home near Tuscumbia, where she had been a resident since Nov. 26, 1972. Mrs. Groves was born July 8, 1881, near Brays in Miller County, the daughter of Billy and Frankie (Grady) Humphrey. She
was married on Feb. 19, 1900, near Iberia, by the Rev. George Sheppard, to Isaac C. Groves, who preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1953. Mrs. Groves lived in the Iberia area all her life with the exception of a few years spent in the Bear Creek area west of Ulman.
She was a member of the Brays Advent Christian Church, the Helpers Union, secretary of the Sunday school, and a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Rowden of Iberia; one grandson, Bill Rowden of Salem; one granddaughter, Mrs. Colleen Graves of Iberia, and five great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Dorsey, on August 28, 1968; three sisters; five brothers; three half-sisters, and one half-brother.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the Brays Advent Christian Church with the Rev. Aldon Veach and the Rev. Perry Wolfe officiating. Interment was in the Union Cemetery under the direction of the Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia. Pallbearers were Siegel Humphrey, Byron Humphrey, Tommy Humphrey, Lloyd Humphrey, Miner Newhart and Okley Kinder.
