Mr. Jones, born in Nash County, NC; was the son of Ovida Jones Baker and the late Clarence Lancaster. He was raised by his mother and step father, Miller Baker, Sr. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, six uncles and two aunts.
Before moving to Washington, DC,he attended Rocky Mount City Schools including Booker T. Washington High School.He gave his life to Christ in April 1990 and continued his commitment to Christ at Galilee Baptist Church, Church of the Great Commission, and The Temple of Praise in the Washington, DC. area.
He led a full and happy life committed to his family and faithful to his friends. He received the love and respect that he gave freely in all his encounters and endeavors, He was known for his sharp dressing and never lost his flare.
After spending a summer in the 60's in New York City, his high school friends nicknamed him "New York Jones", In his pastime, he had a love for buying and selling cars and developed a special interest in Cadillacs. He served as head Chef at Cafritz Hospital aka Greater Southeast Hospital for many years and spent several at the Bureau of Engraving until his health failed him. Never fearing hard work he held numerous other jobs through the years.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Bullock Jones; son, Karl Dennis Jones, Jr.; a daughter, Theresa McArthur (Lennie); three grandchildren; one great grandchild; and through his union with Patricia; Paula Davis of Waldorf, MD; Lyn Denise Thompson (David) of Ranson, WV; Leona Martin of Waldorf, MD; and Bradley Burnside of Washington, DC; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 3 brothers; 4 sisters, a sister-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends.
