Katherine Beauregard "Kitty" Houston was born on 18 Mar 1867 in Visalia, Tulare, California. Her parents were James H Houston (1810-1902) and Frances Seaborn Black (1821-1904). Katherine's father was born in Elizabethton, TN and in 1837 when he was 27 he married Katherine's mother(age 16) in Pochohontas, Arkansas. In 1860 they were living in Elkhorn, California. He had a farm there that was pretty good size, based on the value of the crops produced.
Katherine's mother was born near Little Rock, Arkansas in Rome, Ark. Her parents spent the rest of their lives living in Visalia, California. Katherine was the "baby" of the family, her being the youngest of 12 siblings. In 1900 her husband John was working as a Copper Miner.

Jefferson Virgina "Jeffie" Houston (1861-1958)
Helen lee Houston (1863-?)
Most of this family is in California. And there are some that are buried near Payson, AZ and of course Globe,AZ.

Services were held Monday in the Walker Mortuary Chapel for Mrs. Katherine Houston Wentworth, Gila County pioneer who died here at the age of 95.
Mrs. Wentworth was born in Visalia, Calif., in 1869. She came to Payson in 1885 to keep house for her brothers, Sam, Andrew and William Houston. She was a cousin of Sam Houston, first president of the Republic of Texas.
In 1890 she married John W. Wentworth, who was a successful attorney and was elected to county offices until his retirement in 1953.
Mrs. Wentworth was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Globe, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 68 years.
