MARION - John Vernon Baldwin, 79, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Open Arms Hospice House in Greenville, SC.
John had been residing for the last month in Greer, SC with the family of Chuck Baldwin Jr. his nephew. Chuck and John had a very special relationship and John loved Chuck like a son.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Richardson Funeral Home, burial will follow at Palmetto Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Chuck Baldwin Jr., Corey John Baldwin, Cody Baldwin, Luie DeCosta, Luke Hardy, and Cheyenne Jones.
John was born in Fairfax County, Virginia, son of the late Vermont Herbert and Virginia Lee Mabe Baldwin. He owned Baldwin Construction Company, was a member of Pee Dee Rifle Club 1419 and served in The United States Army.
John lived in Marion since 1986. He always had a smile on his face and a hand out to help others. He was a kind, loving, funny, big hearted man that had never meet a stranger. He was loved by many and will be sorely missed.
John was twice widowed by Sarah Lee Baldwin and Judith Diane Baldwin. He was preceded in death by brother, Claude Baldwin.
Surviving are three brothers, Woody Baldwin and wife Maggie of Surfside, Charles Baldwin, Sr. of Fountain Inn and Bill Baldwin of Manassas, Va; and one sister, Nancy Baldwin of Manassas, Va.
