A Flying Officer (sn: 90269) and pilot with 609 Squadron Royal Air Force (Auxiliary Air Force) based at RAF Middle Wallop. He failed to return from a mission on 14 August 1940 and his aircraft (Spitfire Mk I; PR- H; N3024) is believed to have been shot down near Bournemouth. His body was washed ashore 10 days later on the Isle of Wight.

Son of Laughton and Jessie Goodwin, of Hagley.
