Fred Paul Murphy, Jr., age 64, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital following a chronic illness.
Fred was born on January 22, 1954 in Pulaski County, son of the late Fred Paul Murphy Sr. and Violet Taylor Murphy. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Ivory, she held a special place in his heart. Fred was a retired Engineer from the KY State Highway Department.
He is survived by two sons, Adam Matthew Murphy (and Ashley Sexton) of Somerset and Aaron Michael Murphy of Somerset; one daughter, Ashley Murphy (and Christopher Shepherd) of Somerset; two brothers, Robert Bruce (and Pam) Murphy of Ferguson and Timothy Michael Murphy of Somerset; one grandchild, Ivory Paige Shepherd and one on the way, Olive Rose Shepherd; nieces and nephews, Nathaniel Murphy, Kyle Murphy and Kimberly Keitel-Murphy; cousins, Sherman Murphy, Joe Murphy, Teresa (and Bernie) Davis, Jackie Taylor, Jeff Gray and Gary Gray; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 10:00am until 12:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
His funeral service will follow on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 12:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Mullins officiating. Burial will be at Mill Springs National Cemetery.
