Kelly B. Williamson
June 03, 1965 - June 10, 2018

Kelly B. Williamson, 53, of Miami, passed away June 10, 2018 in Amarillo.

Memorial graveside services will be 10:00 AM Monday, June 18, 2018, at the Miami Cemetery, with Rev. Lewis Holland, retired Methodist minister, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.

Kelly Bryan Williamson was born June 3rd, 1965 in Greenville, Texas. He lived there several years before moving to Amarillo in 1976. Kelly attended Amarillo High School where he excelled at baseball. After graduation, he attended Seward County College in Kansas on a baseball scholarship; shortly thereafter he was scouted and recruited to play baseball at Rice University in Houston on a full scholarship. As a successful pitcher at Rice, his path changed when he was injured by a line drive ending his baseball career.

He graduated from Rice in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and was accepted into law school at Oklahoma City University. He graduated with his Juris Doctor of Law and was admitted into the State Bar of Texas in 1992. As an attorney he worked at the highly acclaimed Baker Botts Law Firm in Houston. He then worked in Dallas for several years building a strong reputation as an ethical, knowledgeable and trusted attorney. As a dedicated and talented attorney, he was typically assigned to the more complex cases. Many of his cases were in the federal courts and he served as counsel for numerous cases brought before the Fifth Circuit, United States Court of Appeals.

After honing his skills in banking and commercial law for several years, he opened the Law Office of Kelly B. Williamson and worked in private practice. In 2017, Kelly received notification he was rated as an "AV Preeminent" attorney, the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical practice by prestigious Martindale-Hubbell legal service. He was also selected as a client champion, an elite group of attorneys selected based on outstanding client reviews.

In addition to his legal prowess, Kelly was known to shoot a pretty good game of pool and he also knew his way around the foosball table. Kelly greatly enjoyed the company of his friends; sharing a cold beverage, as well as his insights on sports, politics, law or other current event, all while listening to what he termed, "old school" rock. They knew he would bring a wonderful intellect, quick wit and keen sense of humor. His friends also knew Kelly would always try to help them as best he could. He was very generous and always willing to fight the good fight for others. His spirit of compassion continued on as a LifeGift organ donor. Despite his own setbacks involving health issues throughout his life, Kelly always pushed forward with a strong desire to be successful. We are very proud of his accomplishments and his many successes.

Kelly is survived by his mother, Shirley of the home; by his brother Jon Williamson and wife Tina of Coppell, TX, by a niece, Kara Williamson of Dallas; by his two nephews, Tyler Williamson of Houston and by Blaine Williamson of Coppell. Kelly was preceded in death by his father, Carl C. Williamson.

As a means to help others, in lieu of flowers, Kelly had requested an endowment be set up to fund student scholarships. Any contributions can be made to KB Williamson Endowment/Scholarship Fund, c/o AimBank, PO Box 8, Miami, Texas 79059.

Immediately following the memorial services, the family will receive friends at a reception at the Miami Community Center.
