MARTIN BENJAMIN PAULSEN

Martin Beniamln Paulsen, 58, of East Terrace, South Burlington, died at his home Wednesday.

He was born in Danville Dec. 12, 1923, son of Dr. Martin J. Paulsen and the late Mrs. Louisa (Douglas) Paulsen.

On June 19, 1948, he married Marguerite Blakeslee of Brattleboro.

Martin served In the U.S. Army during World War II. He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1948 and worked as an engineer in New York, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont. In 1969 he Incorporated Paulsen Associates, a consulting engineering firm in South Burlington. Burlington. He was the design engineer for the Champlain Water District. In 1979 he joined IBM of Essex Junction.

Martin was elected to two terms on the South Burlington City Council. He was active in the Faith United Methodist Church, Scouting and Kiwanis International.

He is survived by his wife. Marguerite; his five children, Marilyn Sidebotham of South Burlington, Mary Jo of New York, N.Y., Martin William of Quincy, Mass., Mark Eric and Marshall James of South Burlington; three grandchildren; his father, Dr. Martin J. Paulsen; his sisters, Julouise Paulsen and Elizabeth Paulsen of Danville and Bennington; and his brother, Dr. Malcolm J. Paulsen of Essex Junction.

His memorial service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 15, at 2 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in South Burlington. The Martin B. Paulsen Memorial Fund is being established in his honor through the church.
