Victor Brooks Bouldin of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on May 17th, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was 82.

Brooks was born on March 14th, 1940, to Leslie Caroline "Barbara" Blackburn Bouldin and Victor William Bouldin in Houston, Texas.

He attended Lamar High School before spending two years at Austin College in Sherman, TX and graduating from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business. After college, Brooks joined the United States Coast Guard Reserves and became a real estate broker/ developer in Houston.

He met the love of his life, Judy Beth Richards of Houston, on a blind date in 1966 and quickly decided that they would marry.

Brooks and Judy had two sons, William Brian, born in 1967 and Richard Bradley, born in 1969.

Brooks was a loving husband and father who enjoyed family vacations, rooting for Houston sports teams, and fishing.

Brooks was an avid golfer and outdoorsman, but his absolute passion was fly fishing. He tied his first fly at the age of 16 before a trip to Yellowstone National Park. In 1976, Brooks co-founded the Texas Flyfishers of Houston and spent the rest of his life sharing his enjoyment of the sport. He opened the Angler's Edge outdoors store in 1986, providing Texas fishermen with high quality fly rods, reels, fly tying materials, books, and equipment. Angler's Edge also organized fishing expeditions to destinations in Texas, Colorado, Montana, Alaska, Canada, Belize, and Christmas Island. Brooks was an accomplished fly tyer and designed new fly patterns such as the Brooks' Shrimp, Brooks' Banshee, and BetterBugs.

He and Judy moved to Georgetown, Texas, in 2001 to be near their two sons, their families, and his sister-in-law Marjorie and her husband William Duffy. Shortly thereafter, he co-founded the San Gabriel Fly Fishers Club.

Brooks is survived by his sister Barbara Hanes of Houston, TX, his sons, Brian and his wife Shari of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Brad and his wife Julie of Leander, TX, and five grandchildren, Brady, Victoria, Jacob, Peter, and Leta. His love, advice, and fly fishing expertise will be missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Texas Fly Fishers of Houston, TX or the San Gabriel Fly Fishers of Georgetown, TX.
