Carol Elliott, a 93 year old resident of Chillicothe, MO, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.

Carol Elliott, a 93 year old resident of Chillicothe, MO, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton. A visitation is scheduled for Friday, March 30, 2018 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Resthaven Mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be left to the Edinburg Cemetery. Carol Elliott was born near Brimson, Missouri to Charles and Charlotte (Broyles) Elliott, on December 21, 1924. He was raised on a farm near Brimson and in Trenton where his father owned a grocery store. Carol volunteered to fight in the United States Army during World War II after three older brothers were drafted and already serving. He fought in the Pacific Theatre, and was honorably discharged. Upon discharge, he farmed in Grundy County. Carol married Betty Dean Routh at a minister’s home in Trenton on April 10, 1947. A few years later they moved to Chillicothe, where he ran a plumbing service. In 1963 Carol and family moved back to a Grundy County farm that he operated while he continued plumbing. After retirement Betty and Carol resided in Chillicothe, MO. Carol is survived by his daughter, Judy Seifert and husband Wayne of Chillicothe, his son, John Elliott and wife Vicky of Columbia, and a sister Theda Ryther of Oskaloosa, IA. He is survived by four grandchildren: Cassandra Cody and husband John of Columbia, Dayna Elliott and spouse Christine Kiefer of Columbia, Tera Jones and husband Darvel of Cameron, and Erik Hurst and wife Theresa of Lawson. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Melanie Slovak and husband Robby, Finn Cody, Allison Hurst, Hannah Hurst, Elaina Hurst, Nicholas Hurst and Elizabeth Hurst. Carol was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and an infant daughter, Linda Elliot; five brothers: Gerald, Thomas, Willard, Everett, and Donald; and three sisters: Beatrice, Dorothy, and Margaret.
