John Norman Fetty Sr.

Age 81, of Buckhannon, WV, passed away peacefully at 7:05 AM Sunday, June 10, 2018, under the compassionate care of Holbrook Nursing Home.

John was born May 19, 1937, in Weston, West Virginia, a son of the late Isaac N. and Anna Belle (Linton) Fetty.

On July 16, 1961, he married the love of his life, Margaret Agatha Bull, who will greatly miss him.

He is also survived by one daughter, Annette Santilli and husband Sam of Philippi, WV; one son, John Fetty Jr. and wife Karen of Flemington, WV; four grandchildren whom he loved dearly, John “JT” Fetty III and Tyler Fetty, both of Flemington, Isaac Fetty of Buckhannon and Stephanie Santilli of Philippi; two younger brothers, Jeff Fetty and wife Norma of Lost Creek and Joe Fetty and wife Emilee, of Vienna, WV; one sister-in-law, Patty Adams of Buckhannon; one brother-in-law, Jim Bull and wife Janie of Brandon, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, one son, Jim Fetty, preceded him in death on October 04, 2007.

Mr. Fetty was a 1955 graduate of Unidis High School, where he was active in Future Farmers of America and received the State and American Farmer Degrees. Next, he attended Glenville State College and then enlisted in the West Virginia Army National Guard on April 23, 1960, at the age of 22. After more than 29 years of service, he retired as SFC. During his years with the National Guard, he was a combat engineer, recruiter, and was a storage-handling supervisor for the USPFO.

He was active in 4-H, and was a 4-H Pin Wearer and All-Star. He attended National 4-H Club Congress, and served as a project leader when his children were in 4-H. He also taught small engines class at Upshur County 4-H Camp.

In 1978, the Fettys established Fetty’s Repair Service for lawn and garden equipment repair, which later grew to sales. He was a Briggs & Stratton Master Technician. At one time or another, every member of the family helped with the family business. Son, Jim, worked full-time alongside his dad, and now son John is carrying on the business. He continued to work at Fetty’s Repair Service until January 2018. He set a high standard of hard work and dedication that made his business an example for his family to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Fetty Family 4-H Camp Scholarship Fund through the Upshur County 4-H Foundation (91 W. Main St. B, Buckhannon, WV 26201), the American Heart Association (1.800.AHA.USA1), the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (1.877.272.6226 1500 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266), or the American Cancer Society Relay for Life (1.800.227.2345).

Mr. Fetty will be missed tremendously by all who knew him.

Friends and family will gather at Tomblyn-Clutter Funeral & Cremation at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon from 3-8 PM on Wednesday, June 13, 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 88 South Kanawha Street in Buckhannon, WV, with Pastor Wease Day officiating.

Interment will follow in Upshur County Memorial Park with full military grave rites accorded by U.S. Army and Upshur County Honor Guard.
