Marilyn attended South Bend Community Schools and had been employed as a CNA over the years. Marilyn, affectionately known to her family and friends as “Petey”, was known for her hair braiding and delicious fried chicken. She never met a stranger. She was kind and showed compassion to everyone she met, always ready to offer a willing hand.
She was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She leaves to cherish her memory her long-time companion, Dennis Parker; her children: Tyrone Watford, Jr., Domonique Parker and Faniece Douglas; her step children: Ericka Parker, Jermaine Parker (Alicia), and Ricky Parker (Autumn); grandchildren: Carlos Mumphrey, Isaiah Anderson, Jordan Whitener, LaKayla Harris, Jeremiah Parker, and Caleb Douglas. Great-Grandchildren: Kyron Mumphrey and Lyric Anderson; six sisters: Loretta Kinnie, Thelma Coleman, Annette Coleman, Roniela Coleman, and Tina Coleman, all of South Bend, IN, and Carolyn Fox of Indianapolis, IN; four brothers: Columbus Coleman, Jr., Ronald Coleman, Jeffrey Coleman, all of South Bend, IN and Todd Coleman (Yolanda) of Florida; special friends: Burnill (Bonnie) Green-McMillian, Unita Sanders and Tonya Winters. She will be missed by a host of family members and friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents: Columbus Coleman Sr., and Dorothy Coleman, Columbus Coleman III (nephew), Hattie Watford (granddaughter), Ariana “Twinkle” Brown (niece), and Anthony Coleman (brother). Recently deceased: Shirley Coleman (sister) of Milwaukee, WI.
