Jack Murphy was born October 16, 1939 in Blair Oklahoma to Pat and Dorothy Murphy.
He was preceded in death by his parents Pat and Dorothy, and brother Jerry Murphy.
Jack graduated from Florence High School in Arizona and attended the University of Arizona where in addition to gaining a bachelor’s in Science he participated in various school activities including; the stock judging team, rodeo team, and the schools Block and Bridle organization. Upon graduation (and a few summers of road construction) Jack was accepted to Colorado State University. It was here that he met the two loves of his life. His degree led him to a 56 year career in Veterinary medicine: over 45 years of those at Chaparral Small Animal clinic in Clovis. The other was named Carolyn whom he married and loved well for 54 years.
While ultimately Jack just loved animals and wanted to help them; he had a very fruitful career. During his career he was voted the President of both the New Mexico Veterinary Medical association and the New Mexico Veterinary Academy and received the honor of being named Veterinarian of the Year for the State of New Mexico. One of his favorite opportunities however was volunteering his time for over 25 years as the Hillcrest Zoo Veterinarian.
He was also involved in the local community participating in, and serving as the President of both the Noonday Lions Club and the Executive Club. He was active with his kids serving as the first President of the Zia elementary PTA, coaching many years of boys and girls Play Inc. teams, and serving on multiple booster club committees.
His strong faith led him to attend and participate on multiple boards and committees at First United Methodist Church, his home church for 46 years.
He is survived by a large family that will continue his legacy of caring for the least, they include: his wife Carolyn, brother Jimmy (Patrica) Murphy, sister in law Janie Murphy and nephew Phil Murphy, daughter Kelli (Billy) Love, sons Darrin Murphy, Mark (Jen) Murphy and Bobby Wise (Rhonda). Jack had 15 grandchildren, Kayla (Trevor) Price, Sarah (Heath) Roark, Connor Love, Jack, Pete, Leah, and Laine Murphy, Liliah, Adaline, Hattie and Fallon Murphy, and James and Mackenzie Wise.
