Laurie Joy "Joey" Krusynski Sims, 64, of Harvest, AL, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018, in Huntsville, AL. Laurie is survived by her son, Jerry Sims, daughter-in-law Lisette Sims, and four loving grandchildren; Kristin, Kaitlin, Kira, and Kailey from Spring, TX. She is also survived by her twin sister, Laura Slifko, brother-in-law Ron Slifko, and three young adult nieces and nephews; Brian, Jane, and Eric of Springfield, VA. Ms. Sims was born in Pontiac, MI, on May 22nd, 1953, and raised in Solen, ND. She lived a life of service and civic duty as an Army veteran, and more than thirty years of civil service, known for treating each person with equal kindness, compassion, and colorful if not tough love. She was vibrant, fun, hardworking, and loved by many. She traveled the world, experienced much, resided in many places, and enjoyed many adventures before setting down roots in Madison County, AL where she formed new, loving, and lasting friendships that she treasured until her passing. A Celebration of Life will be held from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 20th, 2018 at Terranova's Italian Restaurant, 1420 Paramount Drive, Huntsville, AL. Inurnment, with military honors, will be held at the Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
