SARAH IRENE DIXON, 92, of Hagerstown, Md., went to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 10, 2018, surrounded by her family and the Presence of the Lord. Born December 2, 1925, in Williamsport, Md., she was the daughter of the late Daniel Ellsworth Mowen and Martha Elizabeth Bartles Mowen.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 74 years, Howell Gardner Dixon, and her loving daughter, Cathy Dixon Slone. She is also survived by one sister, Martha Ruth Detrow of South Bend, Ind., along with numerous nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Daniel Mowen Jr., Harry Mowen, and Donald Mowen Sr.; sisters Maude Kaplan and Mary Thomas; nephews Daniel Mowen III and Herman Mowen; and niece Debby Jamieson.
She was a lifelong member of Bethel Assembly of God, Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. She was the church pianist and prepared monthly communion for the church for 40 years.
Services will be held at Lifehouse Church, Hagerstown. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Williamsport, Md.
