Mrs. Laura Slaughter Egbert, aged 63 years, died on July 31 at her home in this county. She was united in marriage to Robert S. Egbert on March 4, 1884, and to this union was born nine children, four of whom survive: George M. Egbert, Thomas R. Egbert, Mrs. Miller Dean and Reuben Egbert, all of Mercer county. Early in life Mrs. Egbert joined the congregation at Joseph's Chapel and was faithful to her Christian duties until the end. She possessed many sterling qualities and was loved by all who knew her. The funeral service was conducted at Providence church by the pastor, Rev. J. E. Travis, and the interment was in the Providence cemetery.
