Shirley was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and gardening. She loved having cookouts with her family and listening to music with her husband while cleaning the garage together. Spending time with her family is what she enjoyed the most. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Mannington.
Survivors include her six children, Danny L. (Doris) Whetsell Sr., Mannington, Debra (Bill) Lehman, Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Timmy D. (Becky) Whetsell, Mannington, Victoria L. (Walter) Metts, Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Sherry A. (Denny) Gould, North Dakota, and Brenda F. (Chris) Pierce, Bridgeport; 24 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 11 great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband and soulmate of 65 years, Lawrence E. "Skip" Whetsell Sr., who died Sept. 20, 2017; a son, Lawrence "Tink" Whetsell Jr.; and two sisters, Madaline Martin and Joyce Fochalis.

Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home, 3171 Husky Highway, Farmington, on Monday from 2-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Dr. Michael Reese officiating. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery at Enterprise.
