GALESBURG - William A. "Bill" Norris, 67, Galesburg, died at 10:10 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018, at home.
He was born July 23, 1950, in Galesburg, to Glenn B. and Mary E. Fleshman Norris. He married Becky Moore. He later married Kerre Mitchell on Sept. 7, 1985, in Galesburg. She survives.
Also surviving is his mother, Mary E Norris of Galesburg; his son, W. Andrew (and Jennifer) Norris of Wesley Chapel, Florida; his daughter, Jacquelyn (and Brian) Doran of Southport, North Carolina; three brothers, Rollie (and Renie) Norris of Wheaton, John (and Tere) Norris of Springfield, Missouri, and Jim (and Beth) Norris of Galesburg; three granddaughters, Sydney Norris, Zoey Norris and Olivia Doran; eight nieces and nephews; and four great-nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his father.
Bill graduated from Galesburg High School in 1968. He was in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1973, serving in Augsburg, Germany. He graduated from Carl Sandburg College in 1974. Bill worked for Century Link and other companies as a cable splicer and as a central office technician for 39 years. He retired in 2012. He enjoyed biking with friends and was a home brewer. He was a member of CWA Local 4217 Union where he served as president, steward and was on the negotiation team. He was a member of the Galesburg American Legion Post 285. Bill was "Food Guy" to his beloved cats and was a volunteer for the Guardian Angels.
Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018, at the Knights of Columbus, 1556 E. Fremont St., Galesburg.
