Jan Carlos Long, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away in his home on May 28, 2018 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on May 4, 1934 and grew up Gwynneville, IN.
Jan served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1957 and earned degrees in architectural, civil, and mechanical engineering from Purdue University in 1967, 1973, and 1979, respectively. He was everyone's go to handyman and was an avid golfer and long-time member of a Tuesday night league with a group of close friends.
Jan was preceded in death by his wife, Gerry. He is survived by his sister Judy Hall, nieces Laura (Gregory) Holladay, Carla Hall (Mark Enochs), and Heather (Erik) Woods, daughter Vickie Kauffman, granddaughter Cari (Casey) Dahling, grandson Chad (Katie) Kauffman, and his cherished great-grandchildren Ben and Kelsey Kauffman.
Services will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 700 West 38th Street in Indianapolis. Visitation will be from 10-12 p.m. with services immediately following.
