Samuel Derek “Buster” Fletcher, 56, died on Tuesday, September 23, 2015 while in hospice care in San Francisco, California.
He was born on Nov. 3, 1958, to parents, Carolyn Lattimore Lewis and the late Samuel Fletcher in Chattanooga.
Buster accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age. After graduating with the 1976 Class of Chattanooga High School, Samuel willing enlisted in the United States Army. He served this great nation for eight years. Upon completing his tours of duty with the military, Buster settled in San Francisco, California and lived there for 30+ years. He pursued his life long interests by becoming a chef and an artist.
He is survived by his loving mother, Carolyn Lewis, sisters, Denise “Cookie” Lattimore, Katherine “Kathy” Russell, Stephanie “Pee Wee” Fletcher, Lisa “Butchie” Lake and Karen “Karo” Fletcher, all of Chattanooga, Gwendolyn Fletcher Thomas, Decatur, AL; brothers, Curtis Fletcher, Lester Wayne Fletcher, Julius Miller all of Decatur, AL, and Tommy (Jackie) Fletcher, Jonesboro, GA, Donald (Raquel) Smith and Jeffery Lewis both of Chattanooga; uncles, Raymond (Jean) Lattimore, Frank (Willie Ella) Swopes, a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29, with Brother Tommy Joe McClesky, Reverend Lurone Jennings and Pastor Samuel Jackson officiating. Interment will be in National Cemetery.
The body will lie in state after noon on Monday, Sept. 28, and the family will receive friends from 6–8 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
