Miami - Edward C. "Buzz" Tietig died on May 5, 2018, at age 89 after a long bout with cancer.

Mr. Tietig is survived by three sons: Mark Edward Tietig, 63, of Merritt Island; Erik Dickerson Tietig, 41, of Miami, and Kris Von Tietig, 40, of Oviedo, Florida, plus four grandchildren.

Mr. Tietig has been a resident of Florida since 1956. He was reared in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Park Hills, Kentucky, and received a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati. He married Gloria Demmien in 1948, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Tietig served as an officer aboard anti-submarine surface vessels while on active duty.

Mr. Tietig attended the University of Michigan law school from 1954-56. Upon graduation from law school, he moved with his family to Miami, Florida, where he specialized in real estate and development law for approximately 30 years. Mr. Tietig married Colleen Hoy in 1965. His love for Florida land led him into numerous real estate ventures, ranging from plant nurseries and fruit groves to multi-family housing. Mr. Tietig also became a real estate investor in the Rio Grande Valley in South Central Colorado. He was a member of the Florida Bar until 2016 and was a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States. He was an avid fisherman and art collector.

A Private Service at sea will be held by Mr. Tietig's family.
