He proudly served his Country in the United States Navy during World War II serving in Guam.
Gibby went on to receive a degree in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Tech University in Houghton, MI.
On December 18, 1948 Gibby married the former Dorothy Wales in Stambaugh, MI.
Gibby worked as a Chemical Engineer at Ansul Chemical for 34 years, retiring in 1984.
He enjoyed his summer home on Chicaugon Lake and wintering in Bradenton, FL. Gibby was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting and snowshoeing. He loved to read and feed and watch the birds. Most importantly he was an amazing grandpa. Gibby was a member of the United Methodist Church of Menominee.
Survivors include his wife: Dorothy of Menominee, MI;
daughter: Pam Johnson of Menominee, MI;
2 sons: Richard (Debra) and Mark (Marge) both of Menominee, MI;
7 grandchildren: Brian (Jarlene) Johnson, Amy (Jeff) Lenca, Neal Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Angela (Nathan) Shepro, Denise (Stu Spink) Schingeck and Nicole Schingeck.
5 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson;
and 1 sister: Trudy Collins of Crystal Falls, MI.
Gibby was preceded in death by 1 brother: Glen; and 1 sister: Gurlie.
Family will receive friends at the United Methodist Church in Menominee on Monday June 11, 2018 from 9:00 am until time of Memorial Service at 11:00 am with Pastor Ryan Low Edwardson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
