Leota Margaret Johnson, 81, of Grand Island passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. Kelly Karges officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.

Leota was born July 19, 1936, at Hastings to Mike and Katherine (Aschenbrenner) Glantz. She grew up in Harvard where she attended school and graduated from Harvard High School. After high school she attended Mary Lanning School of Nursing.

She was united in marriage to Dale Johnson on May 26, 1979, at Faith United Methodist Church in Grand Island. She was previously married to Jack Christensen.

Leota worked at Lutheran Memorial Hospital for 17 years and later retired from St. Francis Medical Center.

She enjoyed her friends, grandchildren, going to GILT, spending time at Lake Ericson and working on puzzle books. She also enjoyed her cats.

Leota is survived by her husband, Dale; her children and their spouses, Sherry and Danny Elvington of The Colony, Texas, Rhonda and Gene Andersen of LaVista, Michael and Cindy Christensen of Grand Island, Kathy and David Snider of Anniston, Ala., Kevin Johnson of Grand Island, Ronald Christensen of Grand Island, and Julie Musquiz of Hastings; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and special niece, Linda Peter of Sutton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Steven; sister, Lillian; and brothers, Ralph, Richard and Ronald.
