Wanda Katherine Barnes, 76, of Hallsville passed away at the University Hospital on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. She was born on September 10, 1941 to the late Harry and Eva Day in Boone County, Missouri.

Wanda graduated from Hickman High School in 1959 and went on to attend Moberly Area Community College where she received her degree in nursing. After obtaining her degree, Wanda went on to work for the University Hospital, Columbia Surgical Associates, and Boone Hospital for over 30 years until her retirement.

Wanda was united in marriage to Ralph Barnes in Washington County, Oregon and the two of them shared many years of marriage together until his passing in 2006.

Wanda was a hard-working individual who loved and enjoyed her work as a nurse. When she was not busy with work, she enjoyed watching tv, going to lunch with other retirees, crocheting, and traveling. She also very much enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Wanda is survived by her son Chuck Day (Linda) of New Bloomfield; three nephews: George Day of Hallsville, Jim Day of Mexico and Ross Day; one niece: Candy Green of Hallsville; and two grandchildren: Zach Robnett (Chelsi) of Columbia, and Paige Day of New Bloomfield.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and by one brother George Day Sr.

Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Parker-Millard Funeral Service & Crematory, where a funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles Leezy officiating. Interment will be held in Mt. Horeb Cemetery in Sturgeon, MO.
