Alfred Anton Buscha was born on July 31, 1924 in Greens Creek, Texas, the son of Gerhard and Wilhelmina (Zoch) Buscha. He was baptized on August 10, 1924 by Rev. Theo J. Kilian at Ev. Bethany Lutheran Church in Greens Creek, Texas. He was confirmed on April 25, 1937 also at Ev. Bethany Lutheran Church in Greens Creek, Texas by Rev. Paul Eifert. His confirmation verse was Psalm 1:1-2. When he was 15 years old, he went to work to help support his parents, brothers and sister. He worked at the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). He got paid $30.00 a month. He sent home $25.00 and only kept $5.00 for himself. He learned all different kinds of trade working there.


In October of 1942, he joined the U.S. Army Air Forces. He was in the Army Air Forces until December of 1945 when he received his Honorable Discharge.


He was a member of the Giddings American Legion York Post 276.


On June 10, 1945, he was united in marriage to Irene Driessner at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda, Texas by Rev. Paul Eifert. Their lives were blessed with two sons.


In 1946, they moved to Houston, Texas where he was a city bus driver until 1952 when they moved back to Giddings, Texas. After a year or so, he started working for M & M Lumber Construction Company. Then in 1955, they moved to Serbin. He was still working for M & M and was also farming part time. In 1986, he retired as a foreman at M & M and became a full time farmer and rancher. He enjoyed hunting deer with his friends and working on the farm.


Alfred passed away the evening of Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the Giddings Residence and Rehabilitation Center.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerhard and Wilhelmina Buscha; three brothers, Leroy, Victor and Herbert; one sister, Eleanor, and one sister-in-law, Evelyn Buscha.


Alfred is survived by his wife of 72 years, Irene of Serbin; two sons, Ralph of Phoenix, Arizona, and Robin and his wife, Sherri, of Round Rock, Texas; three grandchildren, Scott Buscha and his daughter, Summer, of Phoenix, Arizona, Erik Buscha and his wife, Becky, and their son Easton of Cedar Park, and Ryan Buscha of Austin; two brothers, Bobby Buscha and his wife, Carolyn, of Smithville, and Cecil Buscha and his wife, Patsy, of Lincoln, Texas, and one sister, Hildegard Reese of Ben Wheeler, Texas.


Serving as pallbearers are Erik Buscha, Ryan Buscha, Bobby Driesner, Tim Buscha, Robert Glen Buscha, and Ralph Zoch. Honorary pallbearers are Scott Buscha, Bobby Buscha Jr., John Buscha, and Bill Buscha.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church General Fund, 1572 County Road 211, Giddings, Texas 78942 or to the charity of one's choice.
