Judy graduated from Lenoir High School, where she loved to play basketball. She was the first girl to be chosen for All County and All State teams. Her coach described her as the best guard I have ever coached. She attended Queens College following graduation. Judy and her husband Earl founded Dixie Novelty & Billiards Company in 1980, where she worked until she was 71 years old. She was a lifelong member of Nazareth Advent Christian Church in Lenoir. She greatly enjoyed working in her flowers, yard, and riding her lawn mower. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all that knew her. Her laugh was contagious, and she loved to joke around!
She is survived by the husband of 54 years, Earl Spencer of the home, sons, Kelly (Connie) Spencer, Cameron (Karen) Spencer, all of Lenoir, and Tracy (Stephanie) Spencer of the home; sisters, Nancy Webb of Morganton and Rita (Randy) Roper of Lenoir; brothers, Larry Butch Setzer and Mitchell Setzer, Sr., both of Lenoir. Her special joys in life were her grandchildren, Kyle Adams, Brandon Spencer, Dakota Spencer, Jacob Spencer and Molly Spencer, all of Lenoir; one great grandson, Easton Spencer, of Lenoir.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday May 31, 2018 at 6:00 pm at Pooveys Chapel Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Mark Dula. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
