Eleanor was born in Orange, NJ on December 18, 1922. She was the youngest of 8 siblings and enjoyed her brothers and sisters immensely. She graduated from Orange High School and had many friends and was known for her outgoing personality and sense of fashion.
She later married Charles A. Franklin. They had four children: Mary Ellen, Ann Lynn, Margy and Karen. Family and friends and her home were her love and joy. She relished holidays with her family and enjoyed trying new recipes and entertaining. These activities were the love of her life and remained so throughout her life. She enjoyed all aspects of family life. She enjoyed traveling to visit her children and grandchildren in Atlanta, Georgia and Winnetka, Ill. She loved summers at the Jersey shore, Cape Cod and in later years Hilton Head, SC. She loved the beach and collecting seashells along the ocean.
She also enjoyed her job as a teacher’s assistant with Lincoln Avenue School in Orange that she held for over 25 years.
She will be missed by her beloved family and friends. Eleanor is survived by her four children; Mary Ellen Franklin, Ann Franklin Keneman, her husband Richard Keneman, Margy Franklin, Karen Franklin, her four grandchildren Margaret Keneman and her husband Daniel Finnerty, Ellie Keneman, Bradley Franklin Taylor and Megan Taylor, her many nieces and nephews and the rest of her lifelong friends.
The funeral service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017. There will be a gathering at Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial, 9 Smull Avenue, Caldwell at 8:30-10:30 am followed by an 11:00 am Mass at St. Philomena’s Church in Livingston. The interment will be held at St. John’s Cemetery, Orange.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105, would be greatly appreciated.
