Ruth Hicks, age 73, of Gatesville, departed her life, Sunday, June 3, 2018. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2018 at Scott’s Funeral Home.

Ruth was born on September 17, 1944 in Burkeville, TX to the late Willie and Helen Turner Evans. She grew up and attended school in Wiergate, TX. In the 1980’s, Ruth moved to Gatesville and went to work at the Rotunda Nursing Home. She later went on to work at Hillside Manor Nursing Home until she retired. Ruth enjoyed playing bingo, listening to music, and keeping her home decorated. She was always changing drapes, furniture, and plants. God and family were the most important part of Ruth’s life. She was loved by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lougreen Evans and Eugene Evans; sisters, Dessie Washom and Dorothy Hickman; and James (Bubba) Wade.

Ruth leaves to cherish her memories, five daughters, Deborah Lakes (Milton Wilson) of Killeen, Kimberly Tyler of Killeen, Tanya Ford of Harker Heights, Vickie (Wallace Ferguson) of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Stephanie Culberson (David Battle) of Gatesville; two sons, Larry Evans of Gatesville and Kenneth Evans of Dallas; three sisters; Charlotte (Edward White), Sharon Evans, Melda Evans, all of Dallas; one brother, Willie Evans Jr. (Willie Mae Evans) of Dallas; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
