On June 3, 2018 our most loved, Wayne Preston Bailey went to see his Lord and Savior. Wayne was retired after 37 years with AEP. Wayne was proud to be a lineman and foreman for AEP. After his retirement, Wayne enjoyed volunteering as a Hunter Education Instructor. Wayne enjoyed fishing and sharing his many humorous stories. He was quick to laugh and had an appreciation for a good prank. Wayne never met a stranger and loved his many dear friends and church family. Wayne was a member of Akers Baptist Church where he was an Assistant Sunday School teacher. Wayne loved reading, studying, teaching and talking about the Bible.

One of seven children, Wayne was born on May 9, 1942. He was the son of Timothy Bailey (1911-Deceased) and Bessie Mae Hutchinson-Bailey (1912-Deceased). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Daleria Bailey (Deceased) and Lucille Bailey-Perez (Deceased); and his brothers, Willard Keith Bailey (1939-1958) and Winifred Blaine Bailey (1945-Deceased).

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Joveda Clay-Scott-Bailey; son, Jason Wayne Bailey; daughter, Emily Suzanne Bailey-Chan & husband Wilson Chan; stepchildren, Linn Scott-Sheik, Dennie Scott & wife Janice Scott, Dana Scott & wife Tina Scott and Sheila Scott-Darby & husband Glen Darby; sister, Lois Bailey-Richardson; brother, Walter Bailey & wife Brenda Bailey; and many loved and cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to Melton Mortuary, in Beckley WV from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday June 7, 2018. Services will be officiated by his dearly loved friend and Pastor, Ardeth Bailey on June 8, 2018 at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV
