She was the daughter of Bertie C. and Edna G. (Durham) Schubert. On Jan 16, 1949, she married Richard E. Brooks, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons: Ron (Sharon), Pittsburgh, PA, and Paul (Kathy) Brooks, Findlay; and five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are five brothers: Virgil, Alvin, Lester, Wilbur and infant Harold; and three sisters: Mary Schafer, Dorothy Rejiester and infant Martha.
A graduate of Oakwood High School, she was a Putnam County 4-H leader for many years; member of North Creek United Methodist Church serving on many committees and leadership roles; member of The Gideon's International Auxiliary – Defiance Camp for over 45 years; former co-owner of Tastee-Freeze, Defiance; operated a jewelry business; and worked many part time jobs earlier in her life. She enjoyed a large garden and talking with friends or relatives. She played a mean game of Skip-Bo. She also claimed that Scrabble kept her mind sharp. Nearly every child in the neighborhood called her "Grandma" and she often played "Where's the Button" when babysitting with them. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and her faith in God.
Services will be at the North Creek United Methodist Church, Continental, with the Rev. Rick Noggle officiating. Burial will be in Monroe Cemetery, Continental.
