Sylvia Chastine Goodin Baker age 88, of Corbin, was born August 16, 1929 in Ingram, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Maude Golden Goodin. Chastine passed away Monday morning, June 4, 2018 at her home in Corbin. She was a member of the Baptist Faith and a member of the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, Ingram, Kentucky.
On December 20, 1952, she united in marriage with Arthur Thomas Baker and to this union one child was born, Marvin Clifton Baker.
Chastine was a loving mother, homemaker and teacher in the Bell County School System for 30 yrs. She enjoyed reading, gardening and was admired her artistic flair.
She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Thomas Baker and parents Maude Ellen Golden and Clarence Goodin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Clarence Goodin, and sister, Cleta Marjorie Goodin Taylor.
Survivors include her loving son, Marvin Clifton Baker; her granddaughter, Whitney Baker and husband Kody; a brother, Silas Finley Goodin and wife Jean; and sister-in-law Mabel Brooks Goodin. Nieces and nephews include Susan Smith, Karen Hammons (Earl), Shannon Bennett, Michelle Taylor, and David Goodin.
Great nieces and nephews; Jesse Barton, Travis Barton, Raychel McKay (Tim), Kirsten Smith, Jacob Martin, Lucas Bennett, Benjamin Hammons and a special friend and caregiver, Wilhelmina Willis.
Pallbearers will be: Kody Baker, Jesse Barton, Travis Barton, Jacob Martin, Lucas Bennett, Benjamin Hammons, Roy Goodin, Jim Goodin, Justin Christian, and Matthew Christian.
Her funeral service will be conducted at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday, June 10 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Paul Wayne Goodin and Rev. Keith Bays officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Pineville Memorial Gardens in Pineville.
