KOOSHAREM - Opal Brindley Torgersen, 87, passed away at her home in Koosharem Jan. 22, 2006, surrounded by her family.

She was born July 3, 1918, to Cebron A. and Lois Walbeck Brindley in Greenwich. She married Reuben Maynard Torgersen Oct. 10, 1935. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS temple June 24, 1940. He preceded her in death Jan. 14, 1992.

Opal was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in all auxiliaries. She had a special love for the family records extraction program and gave hundreds of hours of service in name extraction. She and her husband also served a mission in 1987 to Adam-Ondi-Ahman, Mo.

She was the world's best grandma, leaving a posterity of 39 grandchildren; 118 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her children, Hal (Dorothy) Torgersen, New Harmony; Tarval (Louise) Torgersen, Koosharem; MayDene (Jerald) Oldroyd, Glenwood; Sheron (Melvin) Kleinman, Centerville; Sheril (Shelley) Torgersen; M. LaDon (Melinda) Torgersen; and Ranae (Val) Norman, all Koosharem; sisters, Wilma Torgerson, Koosharem; and Carol (Afton) Blood, Angle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cebron Arthur and Lois Ruth Walbeck Brindley; her husband, Reuben Maynard Torgersen; and sisters, Gail Coates, Regina Torgerson and Beth Gleave.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 28, at noon in the Koosharem LDS ward. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the ward in Koosharem Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Interment will be in the Koosharem Cemetery.
