Dustin Wade Hicks, 21 of the Baptist Valley community of North Tazewell, VA lost his battle with glioblastoma multiforme Stage 4 brain cancer Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at his home. Dustin fought this horrible disease for four years and nine months. Dustin was a fighter and never gave up until his very last breath. The family especially thanks Legacy Hospice for all the care they provided to our sweet Dustin, who would light up every room he entered. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Pearlie Barrett and Stella Hicks; grandfathers, Monroe Scott and Donald G. Hicks; his fiancé’ Andy Jones, whom he loved dearly.
He is survived by his mother, Amy Hicks and fiancé, Bobby Sargent; his father, Danny Hicks; three sisters, Morgan Hicks, Amber Ritchie, and Jeri-Grace Scott; paternal grandparents, Carol Donald, Alma “Honey” Scott and Kathy Hagerman; two very special cousins, Daniel Gillespie and Austin Estep; aunts and uncles, Donald “Don-Don” Hicks, Tonya Burgess, Michael Brewster, Jason Scott, and Kimberly and John Estep.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA with the Reverend Dewey Duff officiating. Burial will follow at Hartwell Cemetery in Hartwell, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 PM Saturday evening March 11, 2017.
