Funeral Services were held at 2pm August 10 1953 for Alvin Bertschy of DeRidder, LA. at the Walter J. Ahrens funeral home, Howards Grove. The Rev. William Schultz, pastor of the St. John's Evangelical Church, Schwartzwald of which the deceased has been a member, officiated, and the burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Bertschy passed away late on Friday night in Howards Grove.
He was born on Oct 20, 1886, in the town of Meeme, the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Jacob Bertschy. On January 27, 1910, he was he was married to Frieda Foth of the town of Mitchell. She passed away on January 24, 1937. He was then married on December 7, 1939 to Mrs. Beatrice Loftin of DeRidder, LA. he couple operated a farm in the town of Meeme until 1946, when they moved to DeRidder. He spent his summers in the Howards Grove home. Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Leona Appel of Idledale, CO, two sons, Richard of Sheboygan, and Daniel of Chicago, two step daughters, Patricia and Belmer Bertschy, of DeRidder, five grandchildren, two brothers, Ed and Arthur, both of Sheboygan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and two children.
