Nita was born in Akron, Ohio on April 1, 1923 to Boris and Eva Hrischuk.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters: Vera Knight and Louise Martin and her husband, Robert Ammon.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Nancy Ammon Jianakoplos and her husband Jay Donlon, Ft. Collins, CO; John Ammon and his wife Linda, Orlando, FL; and Carolyn Ammon McClendon and her husband, Scott, Orlando, FL.
Nita was a 1980 graduate of LSU, finishing a degree she began in 1941 at Ball State Teacher's College. She worked as a Social Security disability analyst before retiring. She was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, having joined Trinity after moving to Baton Rouge after World War II.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Nita's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 10 at Trinity Episcopal Church. Family will receive visitors prior to the service in the Trinity Common Room beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of St James Place Health and Wellness Center for their excellent care and support. The family especially would like to thank Jacqueline Gwin, her primary caregiver, for her tireless dedication and enthusiastic support in caring for Nita.
