Evelyn H. “Mimi” Mills, 66, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Richland Memorial Hospital under the watchful care of Palmetto Health Hospice. Her family is truly grateful for the wonderful staff of Richard Memorial for their loving and respectful care during her final days, and to the caring staff of the Lowman Home Rehabilitation Center during her stay. She was born August 1,1951 in Newberry, SC, a daughter of T. Virgil and Lila Lake Hawkins. Mrs. Mills is survived by her son Ashley B. (Robin) Amick, Sr. of Chapin; a step-son, Ashley Mills (Lynsey) Bullington of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Courtney Amick, Ashley Amick, Jr., Mills Bullington and Mary Ella Bullington; a sister Kay (Carl) Lindler of Prosperity; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, K. Dean (Doc) Mills; a sister June H. Grant; and two brothers, Thomas Hawkins and Stanley Hawkins. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 3:00 PM, by Rev David Tholstrup, with a visitation to follow at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel in Newberry. Private burial will be in Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the ASPCA, a program very dear to her heart. c/o ASPCA.org.
