Mr. Newberry owned and operated Richard's Tap in Momence for 38 years. He was born Aug. 1, 1941 in Momence, the son of George and Maxine Bedinger Newberry. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960 through 1964. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Momence.
Surviving are his wife, the former Susan J. Litoborski, of Momence, whom he married March 6, 1965 in Momence; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Thomas Rehmer of Momence; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Scott and Mary Anne Newberry, Rick and Candi Newberry, and Ryan Newberry, all of Momence; 15 grandchildren; two brothers and four sisters-in-law, James and Dianne Newberry of Grant park, Frank and Linda Newberry, Fran Newberry and Mary Newberry, all of Momence; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Barbara Zelhart of Momence, Joanne Buffington of Florida and Charles Tedford of Bourbonnais.
