Richard L. Huff, 70, died of pulmonary fibrosis on April 27, 2018, peacefully at home in Anchorage, Alaska, as he wished. He was born in Carrington, N.D., on Aug. 31, 1947, to Irvin and Mary Ellen (Edwardson) Huff.

Richard served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam with the 173rd Airborne Brigade and upon his return, his father, a World War II vet, suggested they visit Alaska. Two years later, Richard went there. He served 23 years with the Anchorage Fire Department, retiring as a captain.

An avid hunter and fisherman and excellent cook, he added skiing after meeting Constance Graffis in 1983. They married in 2003 and enjoyed 34 years of good times together. Richard loved animals and had many beloved golden retrievers over the decades.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and younger brother, Ron. Richard is survived by his wife, Constance Huff; sisters, Renae Best, Renette Cowell and Richelle Huff and their dear spouses, children and grandchildren; and his nephew, Nathan Huff and family. (Taken from Anchorage Daily News)
