Helen Vilod McCoy, age 94, of Ionia, MI passed away June 3, 2018. She was born on November 10, 1923 in East Oxford Township, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Carl Ruddell and Henrietta (Spicer) Tabor. She graduated from Carson City High School, Class of 1941. She was employed as a beauty operator after earning her diploma from La Parent Academy of Beauty, Grand Rapids, MI in 1942. Helen married Robert McCoy, both aged 19, on March 29, 1943 in Lowell, MI. After joining Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church in 1960, she remained a member for 58 years until the present. She served as Sunday School teacher there for 40 years.
Surviving Helen are her son, Carl Richard (Virginia) McCoy of Grosse Pointe Woods; daughter-in-laws, Marcia McCoy (Jim Jones) of Ionia and Donna McCoy of Barryton; grandsons Daniel Martin (Michelle) McCoy of Ionia and Marc Robert (Tami) McCoy of Ionia; great grandchildren, Kylie Michelle, Daniel Jack, Matthew Knight, Lucas Danny and Ashlyn Dormer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert, sons, Danny Eugene, James Carl and sister, Mary Tabor Fields.
Funeral services will be held at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church on Thursday, June 7th at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor David Iseminger II officiating. A visitation will be 1-hour prior (1-2PM) to the service at the church. Interment Easton Cemetery.
