Maxine inherited her father’s green thumb and her mother’s desire to care for those who needed it. She always had plants growing around the house, nurturing them and finding the beauty in each one. Similarly, she always looked for ways she could help and serve others, whether it was in the church nursery, in the kitchen preparing refreshments for Ladies’ Bible Study, or whatever detail needed to be addressed to help others. Maxine served Jesus by serving and caring for others.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ella Millen, her step-son Jackie Matthews, and her daughter-in-law Carmen Hayes Wilhite. She is survived by her two sons and their wives; Howard and Dena Wilhite and Mike and Cindy Wilhite. She had ten grandchildren; Jennifer and Greg Dulworth, Kristen and Dan Plymire, Amanda and Brenton Stamper, Travis Wilhite, Cory Matthews, Ben Matthews, and Keith Matthews. She was blessed with two great-grandchildren; Sam Kinsey and Jaxon Dulworth. Maxine is also survived by two loving brothers and their wives; Royal O. and Dianne Millen and Earl and Carolyn Millen, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Maxine’s life will be held at 7PM on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the Wortham location of Klein Funeral Home. Visitation will precede the celebration from 5-7PM. Graveside service will be held at 11AM on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen, Texas.
