William Babcock served in the Civil War from 1862-1865. He was in the Battery K, 1st Heavy Artillery Regiment Vermont, and came out as a Sgt. He and his family moved to Hiawatha in 1868. He and his wife died and was buried in the Hiawatha Cemetery.
